BIOGRAPHY

Hello, I am "El Señor Hernandez", currently a Spanish teacher at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ.

I am a native Spanish speaker who was born in Colombia, I have plenty of experience teaching different ages in both Private and Public schools, as well as in Universities in NJ and abroad. I have a Masters degree in Urban Education with Specialization in World Languages Education from NJCU, and currently I am an official certified ACTFL AAPPL Rater. My background as a Computer Engineer also provides me with a unique approach to the Spanish class, evolving the technology as part of our curriculum. 

 

Traveling the world is my passion and I'm very fortunate to have lived in other countries such as France, Spain and Colombia, and I have seen firsthand the importance of giving real value to our cultural differences in order to preserve the peace and great harmony in a globalized world.

I have high expectations for my students and I will do everything that I can to help them achieve those expectations. I am looking forward to another wonderful and successful year at CHS.
