Hello, I’m Señor Hernandez. I have been teaching Spanish at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ for more than a decade, and I’m excited about the years ahead.

I am a native Spanish speaker from Colombia with extensive experience teaching students of all ages in both public and private schools, as well as at universities in New Jersey and abroad. I hold a Master’s degree in Urban Education with a specialization in World Language Education from NJCU, and I am a certified ACTFL AAPPL Rater. My background in Computer Engineering allows me to bring a unique perspective to the classroom by integrating technology into our Spanish curriculum.

Traveling is one of my greatest passions. I’ve been fortunate to live in France, Spain, and Colombia before making New Jersey my home. These experiences have shown me the value of embracing cultural differences as a way to promote peace and harmony in a globalized world.

I set high expectations for my students and work hard to support them in reaching their goals. I look forward to another meaningful and successful year at CHS.
